Pressure Gauge | JUN YING INSTRUMENTS

Shanghai Jun Ying Instruments is an industrial instrumentation manufacturer and OEM products supplier, We located in Shanghai, China. Our major products are pressure gauge, thermometer and related accessories.

How to Choose A Pressure Gauge And Snubber For Usage?

Selecting an appropriate Pressure Gaugeis very challenging. Before selecting it, you need to consider a few things.

Application & Environmental Impact: The medium in which the bourdon tube is used, must be taken into the account. If a diaphragm shows that the medium is corrosive, it would leave a clog or deposit in the tube.

Choosing the correct material for the gauge is essential. For corrosive medium, you should go for stainless steel whereas brass is a good choice for general purpose applications. The effects of weather conditions and moisture lead to be harmful to the gauge and should be followed before the selection of a gauge.

For applications where harmful pressure spikes, pulsation, or vibration exist, the perfect choice is a Low-Pressure Gauge. The liquid-filled gauge will surely minimize these effects and shows the correct reading in the pointer. The gauge size may vary from 25 to 250 mm.

Connection: Generally, we see back and bottom connections for the gauges. The standard thread is at BSP(G), NPT, SAE, or other fittings. The common connections mostly preferred are ½” NPT and ¼” NPT. You may go through the catalog for available connections and settings.

Accuracy: Accuracy depends upon the difference between the measured value and the true value. If the difference is almost zero, the gauge is more accurate to use. The toleration should be within ±3% of the true value. In high-priority critical applications, more accuracy is expected.

Gauge Mounting: It is mounted in various ways. For direct mount, there is the bottom, centre, and lower back with in-line connections. Consider front flange for flush mounting and back flange for panelling. U-clamps work as an alternative for flush mounting. A gauge can be remotely mounted in case any equipment causes excessive vibration.

Pressure Snubber: Pressure Snubber is a useful element to protect the gauge from harmful effects including vibrations. It evens out the rate at which gas or fluid flows. It lessens the pulsations and improves the consistency of gauge reading.

Another general-purpose instrument is the Tridicator which has a dual purpose of measurement of temperature and pressure. It measures steam pressure on one scale and temperature on another scale. It is of the single dial and dual scale. It follows the bottom or back connection. Multiple ranges are available for measuring pressure and temperature. Ranges should always be compliant with industrial standards.

From the above points, you may get an idea about important accessories a gauge must-have. There are some elements more like snubbers, restrictor screws, liquid filling, etc. For extreme temperature ranges, remote monitoring is the best choice.
